Buzzard News is now closed for business but we wanted to break down exactly what they offered and maybe we could get to the bottom of why they closed down for good. When we pulled them up, we discovered that they offered all types of price plans. This is a feature that we do not see with every Usenet provider and it is a good one to have. As well, they had a 99% completion rate and up to 8 simultaneous connections available. They did only have one server located in the United States and only 82, 000 newsgroups available, but this is not the worst that we have seen. We broke it down further for you to see what they really offered when they were still in business and maybe get some reasoning behind their departure.

Retention: They offered a 120 day binary retention and a 360 day text retention. Some of the competitors we have listed on the home page offer a lot more than Buzzard News did when they were still in business.

Anonymity: As far as we could see, they did not offer SSL. This could be one of the reasons that they went out of business. With today’s importance of a secure server, due to hackers and such, not offering one can turn customers away.

Pricing: The great thing about Buzzard news was that they offered four different plan types: metered, monthly, block and auto reloading accounts. The one thing that I did not like about their price plans though was the fact that you had to pay for speed. The more money you put into your plan, the more speed you received. A good feature that they did offer when they were still in business was a two month free subscription for new users. Some of the plans we found were:

– unlimited – $14.95/month

– 1.5GB/day – $6.95/month

– 75 GB/mo. – $17.95/month

As you can see, they offered some very affordable plans and many to choose from. I dislike being limited and I enjoy many options. Buzzard had many options available and this is a great feature to provide.

Speed: Speed came with what kind of plan you bought. The more the plan cost, the more connections you received. They only had one server farm which was located in the United States and it did not offer SSL. If your service provider limits Usenet users during peak hours, not providing SSL can actually slow down your connection speed. They had 30 different connections but only 8 simultaneous connection available.

Features: Some of the other features that we came across for Buzzard News was their 99% completion rate, 48, 000 available newsgroups, and e-mail support.

Recommendation:

I can not recommend Buzzard news to anyone because it is not open any longer. If they were still open, I would probably not recommend them to anyone as they do not offer live support, a sufficient amount of newsgroups or a very high retention. I guess that is why Buzzard News went out of business to begin with.

Bubba News is another Usenet provider that we wanted to break down and see what they really offered to their customers. When I retrieved their website however, I was shocked to see that they do not offer any Usenet related information! I was wondering how they expected anyone to sign-up if they do not know what they offer! I guess that is where we come in.

Retention: Bubba News offers a 300 day text retention and a 30 day binary retention. Some of the competitors that we have listed on our home page offer a higher retention than this.

Anonymity: They do not currently offer any form of SSL on their server, which is located in the United States.

Pricing: They do not offer any block plans. You can not buy a plan for multiple months and save which may have some customers turning to the competitors. They offer metered plans that expire each month unless you pay to continue your subscription. Speed is also factored into their plans so the more money you are willing to slap down, the more speed you will receive. Some of the plans that we ran across were:

– 5GB for $6.95 a month

– 25GB for $19.90

They have about ten plans available which is a good thing for most. If you are like me, you like options and Bubba News does offer multiple price plans to choose from. They are all metered plans however so if you are not looking for metered plans, check out some of the competitors we have listed on our home page.

Speed: Speed comes with how much money you are willing to put down when it comes to this Usenet provider. The bigger the price plan you purchase, the more speed you will get. They do not offer an un-capped speed either because of this. They offer up to 4 simultaneous connections and no form of SSL. This is a little slower than some of the competitors we have featured on our home page. They only have one server farm located in the United States as well.

Features: Some of the other features that we came across, after some searching, included:

– 98% completion

– 35, 000 news groups

One of the features that I like to see a Usenet provider provide is live support. Bubba news only has e-mail support available for their customers. Another feature that I like to see a Usenet provider offer is 100, 000+ news groups. Before signing on with Bubba News, you will want to ensure that they have your favorite news groups first.

Recommendation:

I probably would not recommend Bubba News to anyone only because they are not willing to hand out information as far as I can tell. As well, they have no form of live support and a lower retention rate. They also have a low number of available news groups. I would check out some of the other providers we have on the home page first.

Binverse is regarded as one of the best rated Usenet services around. The reason for its popularity lies in the fact that it has started one of the biggest advertising campaigns for Usenet service ever seen and also known to provide a special software that is meant to make Usenet easy for beginners.

They offer their users unlimited access along with their own newsreader. The Binverse client allows you to search for content & download them from Usenet from Windows or Mac. It also repairs & decompresses the downloaded files. If you are interested in easy to use Usenet and don’t mind paying a lot more than usual, then Binverse is certainly a good option for you.

Retention: Binverse current offers a binary retention of over 1,014 days & it is set to go up in the future. The binary retention offered by Binverse is as good as many of the best Usenet provider, if not better. The retention comes with a very high level of completion rate.

Completion rate: The completion rate of Binverse is extremely high at 99.99%, which is better than the completion rates of many of top Usenet providers out there.

Newsgroups: With this high completion rate, Binverse supports more than 100,000 newsgroups.

Newsreader: The Binverse client software is regarded as one of the best client software in the market. The client software comes with a built-in search engine which will allow you to search using various engines including Bintube, Binsearch, Newzleech, NZBMatrix & many others. This software can be downloaded for free while you are signing up for Binverse.

But after taking a closer look, we have to say that this newsreader is merely a bad copy of the many programs available out there for free. It basically uses the same free search engines as other programs, except for the “Atimto Usenet Index” which is used in some commercial usenet clients and isn’t available for free. Only the preview function for audio and video (which doesn’t work in a lot of cases) is something special, although you can get that with a client called BinTube which you can buy for a few dollars without having to pay an enormous sum every month to Binverse.

Pricing: The metered accounts provided by Binverse are one of the most expensive in the market. All accounts come with unlimited 1mbps downloads. Other pricing plan includes a Galaxy plan & a Multiverse plan. The Galaxy plan includes a 160 mbps speed & offers 30 GB usage. The plan also comes with 12 simultaneous connections. One will have to pay $13.99, $65.88 & $107.76 for a month, 6 moths & a year respectively. The Multiverse plan offers unlimited usage to the Binverse users at 160 mbps & with 12 simultaneous connections. For using this plan, one will have to shell out $29.98, $99.90 & $179.76 for a month, 6 months & a year respectively.

Free trial: Binverse does offer a free trial on their website. The free trial is offered for 3 days at a speed of 2 mbps. The free trial also includes access to Binverse Usenet client.

Security/Anonymity: Security is guaranteed since all connections are SSL encrypted. Bineverse also pledges not sell your information to any third party. They also claim not to track your downloads.

Customer support: Customer support of Binverse is quite good. They offer 24/7 support through phone, email & online chats. You can just visit their site or call them at 866-440-2997.

Payment options: Payments to Binverse can be made through credit cards & PayPal.

Conclusion: The services offered by Binverse are quite good, but incredibly expensive. Although a few function are relatively exclusive and rather easy to use for beginners, this doesn’t at all justify the immense prices for their services. They are definitely not one of the top most Usenet service providers as they’re merely reselling other services. If you want to avail of Binverse’s services then make sure you check out their free trial first & then decide whether you should take it or not – We would really advise you to signup for a much cheaper account at one of the providers we rated on our main site and use one of the many free newsreaders out there or, if you really need extremely easy use, signup for Easynews (you can find a link on our main page) which really is the better choice as it is really easy to use.

Bargain News offers an uncensored and an up-capped server to all of their customers but only some customers receive a secure server. Bargain News Feeds.com forces their customers to pay for pricier plans if they wish to have a secure server. This is a good feature for those of you who don’t think you need SSL, but not so much for those of you who do need a secure server. They do offer multiple servers in the United States and in Europe with 50 available connections for super fast downloading speeds. They offered some other things, and forgot about a few features. We broke the rest down for you.

Retention: Currently, Bargain News Feeds offers a 700 day binary retention and a text retention of 700 days. This is not the best retention that we have seen, like the retention we have seen from some of the providers listed on our home page, but it is also not the worst.

Anonymity: Four of the six available servers offered have SSL. You may have to purchase a pricier plan to receive the SSL but if you do not want it, at least you are getting a cheaper price!

Pricing: One of the features offed at Baring News Feeds that I liked was that they offer many different price plans and they offer either unlimited accounts or metered accounts and both could be purchased as a block plan. The cheapest unlimited plan offered at Bargain News Feeds is only $17.95. That was for one month of unlimited Gigabytes. You can get a whopping 10GB for only $6.95 a month as well. This is the cheapest price plan available.

Speed: One of the other features offered by this Usenet provider is that they have 3 server farms available within the United States and in Europe with 6 available servers. Four of the six servers offer SSL as well. This can speed up your connection if your internet provider is trying to limit your Usenet availability. They also have 50 simultaneous connections available. This will definitely allow you to max out your internet connection. Bargain news Feeds also provides an un-capped and uncensored connection for all of their price plans.

Features:

Some of the other included features that Bargain News Feeds.com offers that we did not mention include:

– Some of the other great features offered are:

– 84, 000 available newsgroups

– 99% Completion rate

– E-mail support

– Browser access with all web accounts

– Compatible with all newsreaders

Recommendation:

Although bargain news feeds.com does not offer a free trial or any form of live support, they are not the worst Usenet provider available. I would recommend them to any user. They offer a large amount of price plans and they have multiple servers available. They also have an un-capped and uncensored server. Their retention is not the worst, but we do have some other provider’s listed on the home page that provide more retention. They seem worth a try but make sure to check out the other providers on our home page first!

Anonymous News Feeds.com offers high download and upload speeds along with a secure server protected by a 256- Bit SSL encryption. If you don’t want to pay for a secure server, they offer plans without SSL for cheaper. You can max out your internet connection with their 50 available connections and two available server farms which are located in the United States and in Europe. As well, they have many different price plans that you can choose from; more than I am used to seeing. This is great for those users who really know what they want included in their Usenet service plan.

Retention: Anonymous News Feeds.com offers a 650+ day binary retention and a 1, 100+ day text retention. They were unable to provide stats on the retention provided with their power servers so I would suggest not choosing those service plans.

Anonymity: Anonymous News Feeds.com offers a secure server connection with a 256- Bit SSL encryption but this feature is only available on certain price plans. This means that you have to pay to have a secure connection. This could be seen as a good thing if you don’t think you need SSL and hoping to get a discount on a service plan that doesn’t include it. Otherwise, it is definitely not a great feature that they offer.

Pricing: Their Usenet plans start at only $6.95 a month for 20 Gigabytes on a power server. That is a good price but they were unable to verify how much retention will come with this plan. Without a free trial and some stats, this is a pretty steep offer. I also noticed that they did not have any plan that included SSL and was not on a power server.

One plan that stood out to me was the Unlimited Plan. With this plan, you receive an unlimited amount of connections and an unlimited amount of Gigabytes for $29.95 a month. This includes SSL and web browser access. You will also receive an uncensored connection with uncapped speeds.

Speed:

One of the features of Anonymous News Feeds.com is that they have a high amount of connections and more than one server farm. They have 50 connections with a server farm in the United Sates and a server farm in Europe. They do not cap or throttle speeds as well and they offer a secure connection which, in some cases, can speed up your connection. Both servers allow up to 20 simultaneous connections at one time. When their servers were last tested, they met speeds of up to 622.08 Mbps.

Features:

They have over 100, 000 newsgroups available to you with at an uncensored connection. As well, they have a 99% completion rate and a 1000+ day text retention. Anonymous News Feeds.com offers service plans with web browser access and plans without SSL. They offer ANTI-spam filters and 100% availability.

Recommendation:

I would recommend Anonymous News Feeds.com to those of you who are really looking for that unique Usenet service plan and you have not found it yet. With the 10+ service plans available from this provider, you should be able to find one that fits your needs. As well, if you are looking for a discount and you are hoping that cutting out the SSL will give you one, this is a provider you may want to look into.
