Eternal- September currently only offers text-only Usenet access but they do offer it for free. They only offer access to about 800 text newsgroups however. They offer support but only via e-mail. Due to the fact that they offer free Usenet access, I can see why they wouldn’t offer any other form of support. There are 4 available simultaneous connections and three available servers which are located in Europe. The retention varies between the different hierarchies ranging from 730 days to 90 days. Some of the other information we were able to track down are as follows.
Retention: The retention offered by Eternal- September ranges from different hierarchies. The retention is two years for de., 130 days for alt, 160 days for the Big 8, and 90 days for all of the other hierarchies available. If you are looking for more retention, I would suggest some of the competition that we have featured on our home page. Some of them offer up to 1000 days or more of retention for their users.
Anonymity: They currently do not offer any form of SSL to their users.
Pricing: Currently, Eternal- September offers free text Usenet access to all registered customers; registration is also free. The down side of offering free Usenet is that they do not offer any Live support or any binary Usenet. If you are looking for binary newsgroups, you can check out some of the other Usenet providers that we have featured on our home page.
Speed: You should have no problem maxing out your internet connection with Eternal- September. They currently have speeds that reach up to 100MBits per second. They also have 4 available simultaneous connections and three servers available which are located in Europe.
Features:
Some of the things that Eternal- September offers that I found to be great features were the fact that they offer e-mail support, the fact that Usenet access is free and the speed that they offer. Even though they offer free Usenet, they do offer e-mail support. This is a great feature that I did not expect to see when I learned that they offer free Usenet. Offering free text newsgroups is also a great feature that I have yet to come across. The speed is also pretty good for a free price plan. You can easily max out your Internet connection and they have multiple servers and server connections available.
Recommendation:
I would recommend Eternal- September to those of you who are looking for a free way to get a fast connection to text newsgroups. If you are looking for this feature, you should ensure that they have you favorite newsgroups available first because they currently only offer 800 newsgroups. You should have no issue e-mailing them and asking if they have your newsgroups available. I would also recommend this Usenet provider to those of you who are looking for speed but you only need need a Usenet provider for text newsgroups and not binary newsgroups. If you are looking for more newsgroups, SSL or higher retention, I would check out some of the competition that we have featured on our home page.
